Hi friends, welcome back! A couple posts ago, I dove into our Teams Device AOSP Firmware Upgrade which is currently in various stages of testing and GA rollout depending on your hardware OEM / manufacturer and model.
Today’s post is adjacent with critical update timing that you need to know about. I’ll start with a picture that a few of us created and began widely distributing in internal and external social channels.

This picture references 4x different “things” with links. Here are the details.
Device AOSP Firmware Change
I spoke about this in my last blog. We have published important guidance. The new thing is that we are beginning to automatically rollout AOSP Firmware using your Teams Devices / Automatic Update rings. This Auto Upgrade begins May 15th. Here are the three most important links for you to read/learn more.
AOSP Triggered MFA Change
There are two important links for you to read/learn more of the MFA (multi-factor authentication) changes that come with an upgrade from Device Administrator to AOSP Firmware.
- Tech Community Blog & FAQ – You’ll need to login “local” or Adust your Conditional Access Policies
- CA Policies – You’ll want to consider our best pratices of Device Filters or Location Filters
Exclude Identities from DCF Policy
There is an upcoming change for Teams Devices affecting both legacy (Device Administrator) and new (AOSP) Device Firmware. DCF == Device Code Flow and is the mechanism by which you can use a “code” to login/authenticate on one machine and have that authentication token go to the device you are wishing to use. This is an important change and here are two important links for you to read/learn more.
