Hey all, just wanted to give you a brief update on the Cisco CallManager + SIP + DIDWW.com post from the other day. If you recall, I gave some pretty detailed CCM setup instructions.
Our original SIP configuration was done by an amazing engineer named Jim. When I was looking to do this DIDWW.com SIP work, I was copying what I assumed was some setup that he created. Turns out, I was copying information that was not necessary. I was copying work someone else had done probably before Jim got involved.
The information I gave re: DIDWW.com mapping, and also the Cisco 3725 SIP Gateway configuration I gave is 100% correct and necessary.
But, all the SIP Profile // Calling Search Space // Device Pool // SIP Trunk configuration is unnecessary.
Let me explain.
Based on the configuration I gave yesterday, dial-peer 101 is "listening" for incoming SIP signalling. It then takes that signal and translates the incoming call to a 4-digit number. That 4-digit number is then matched to an H.323 dial-peer pointing at my CallManager. There are no "trunks" required for this setup. The call is taken by the SIP Gateway (Cisco 3725) and then sent to my Cisco CallManager.
I hope that makes sense. I wanted to update those of you that might read this later that it's much easier than I made it out to be.
